    EFCC Arrests 20 for Electoral Offences in FCT Local Government Polls

    The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 20 individuals in connection with various electoral offences during the recently concluded local government elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

    Dele Oyewale, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, confirmed in a statement on Sunday in Abuja that the arrests were made across the FCT for offences including vote buying, vote selling, and obstruction of electoral officers, involving a total sum of ₦17.2 million.

    Notably, one suspect was apprehended with ₦13.5 million in a vehicle parked near a polling unit in Kwali Local Government Area.

    Oyewale further detailed the distribution of the arrests: two in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and four in Kwali.

    The EFCC stated that all suspects will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
